The Cost Rollup System is an integrated set of utilities that enhances the existing functionality of setting and updating costs in the system. The Cost Rollup System streamlines the process, potentially saving scores of transactions in the system, and reduces the risk to revenues via misstated costs. The primary features are:
- Safety - The system is designed to safely change standard or current costs. The users stay out of the dangerous UT,252 and UT,24x commands. Eliminates IT involvement in the cost rollup process.
- Component Cost Where Used - Enter a new standard or current cost of a component. The program will update the component's cost, then rollup and update the cost on all of the subassemblies and assemblies that use the component.
- Multi-Level Assembly Rollup - the utility will roll up the standard or current cost of an assembly, and update the cost on all of its corresponding subassemblies.
- UT,252 postings are created automatically for standard cost changes as required.
- Current and Standard Costs are retained. Current costs are not wiped out when updating standard. Existing standard costs are archived in a separate database prior to the update so that a before and after view is available.
- Proposed Cost - a database is provided to maintain the 'proposed' cost fields of a part number and move them into the item master.
- Prior Cost Visibility - Enter a part number and view the existing and prior costs. The date and user name of the cost update is displayed .
